Few Terminologies

1. Agile Manufacturing

Agile manufacturing is the ability of the manufacturing unit to improve specific areas of responsiveness, shortened system changeover, product customization, cost and time, and efficient scaling up and down of operations. An agile manufacturing strategy integrates Just in Time (JIT) system and Total Quality Management (TQM) to respond with agility to the uncertainties in the market demand. The need of decreasing lead times and being flexible in fast fashion introduced involvement of suppliers in the process as being crucial to their ability to attain high levels of customer satisfaction

2. Andon Light

Andon Light in manufacturing refers to a status-display station. ... Whenever a worker detected any problem in the production line or found himself unable to keep pace with the line, he could stop the operation, which would set off an alarm system and illuminate the color-coded and light board.

An example of ANDON light installed in an apparel manufacturing unit is shown, where the colours indicate the following:

  • Red- Machine problem

  • Green-Raw material problem

  • Amber-Quality problem

3. Bundling

Bundling is a sub-process of fabric cutting in garment manufacturing. Bundling is the process of arranging garment components from the cut stacks after layer cutting and making a bundle with a number of garment pieces. ... secondly, multiple garments (of the same or different sizes and colors) are cut from a single lay.

4. CAD

Computer-aided design & computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software is used to design and manufacture prototypes, finished products, and production runs of products.

CAD enables the development, modification, and optimization of the design process.

5.CMT

CMT stands for Cut, Make, Trim. This type of garment manufacturing is perfect for when you know exactly how your clothes should look like. Meaning that you have figured out the design, sizes, grading, patterns, fabrics, dyeing, and printing.
